Astro Aggregates supplies and transports NYDOT and ConnDOT infrastructure materials, crushed stone, and sand via rail throughout the Long Island and NY area
Astro Aggregates supplies ready mix concrete and asphalt plants with NYSDOT- and ConnDOT-approved clean single-source virgin materials for project site development. Using our fleet of over 200 railcars, in close collaboration with the railroads we help reduce the carbon footprint of construction projects. We service Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties and the greater NYC area, with expansion plans into NJ, CT, MA and Upper NY as well as the greater Northeast area. We unload and sell hundreds of thousands of tons of material each year and aim for continued growth to and above 1 million through additional railcars and rail/barge facilities.
Materials

1/4″ Crushed Stone (NYSDOT #1A)
Most commonly used in asphalt top coating and ready-mix concrete. It is also used for type II under-drains, bicycle paths, parking areas, landscaping, and walkways.

3/4″ Crushed Stone (NYSDOT & ASTM #57)
Most commonly used in concrete mix, it has also been used as road base or road surfacing material. It is a single-source, virgin-source, negative PFA material and qualifies as clean backfill on the majority of construction sites.

3/4″ Structural Stone
Due to the higher material strength of STALITE slate aggregate, higher strength concretes can be achieved with lower cement contents allowing for more economical concrete mixes.

3/8″ Crushed Stone (NYSDOT #1)
Most commonly used in asphalt basecoat (binder) and ready-mix concrete. It is also used for gravel walkways, foundation beds, drainage fields, and roofing stone.

Concrete Sand (ASTM C‑33)
Used in ready mix concrete, as pipe backfill, electrical pipe bedding (PG&E fill sand), septic mounts, permeable drain systems, horse arenas, playgrounds, & under sports fields & pavers.
